Location: Dwarfs’ Mine - Interior

Clang… clang… !

Jack: All right! I got one. 

Deuce: And the size?!

Jack: … mediocre. It’s too small.

Deuce: Terrific… We’re having a difficult time finding a shard that meets the requirements.

How about we change up our dig site, Jack?

Won’t we find more if we poke into a white layer of rock?

Jack: Apparently. I mean, that’s what Leona-senpai taught us to do.

Grim: Yo, Track Club!

Deuce: Grim and Yuu.

> Done with that challenge yet?

Deuce: Not even close.

> Find any magic gems?

Deuce: Anything we’ve found so far hasn’t been good enough.

Deuce: We were thinking about finding another spot to dig since all we’re getting in this area are slivers. 

Grim: How ‘bout that spot you and Ace were at?

Jack: Ace? What’s he mean?

Deuce: I’ve been to this mine before with Ace and Grim. 

We, uh… needed a huge gem for reasons.

Jack: Reasons… oh!

You mean when everyone was in an uproar over how crazy stupid this year’s first years were when we’d just enrolled… 

That incident where you and Ace shattered one of the academy’s prized chandeliers. 

Deuce: W-Well, hey, nevermind the details.

Grim’s right. I’m pretty sure we found one killer shard deeper in the mine.

But… we were also attacked by a monster.

Jack: Monster?!

Deuce: Yeah. 

A huge monster carrying a pickaxe and a lantern… with its head dribbling black ink. 

Jack: Seriously? You sure it wasn’t just a bad dream?

Or maybe you got spooked and confused a ghost or faerie for a beast?

Deuce: Are you kidding? Beating that thing wasn’t easy!

Grim: Yeah! It was all drippy and big and super scary!!

Jack: Okay, guys. Okay. I hear you.

Anyway, there might be bigger magic gem shards in the depths of the mine.

Either way, we’ve got to go.

Deuce: Yeah, but…

Jack: Even if we run into that monster, you defeated it before, right?

Which means we can handle it. I’m not gonna half-ass this challenge here and run out of time.

I’ll go alone if I have to. You guys stay here.

Deuce: … As if I could let you go alone and let you think I’m a coward.

I’m going with you!

Grim: I-I-I ain’t scared one bit either! I’m gonna follow ya and take those notes!

Deuce: I think it was somewhere around here. Let’s move fast and find that magic gem shard.

Grim & Deuce: ?!

Deuce: That noise… is it—

Jack: Yeah! It’s those faeries again!

Deuce: Kgh… Guess we better give them a warm welcome!
