scary monsters ~endless halloween night~ 4-12 "actually pretty crucial"

Location: The Other Dimension - Yugen Canyon

Sebek: ROAR!

Ghost B: Eek! All hands, retreat!

Sebek: HAH-hahah. Pitiful. All it took to send them scattering was a little scare!

Trey: They all took off someplace.

… Anyway, what’s your dad like, Sebek?

Sebek: My father is… just your average human.

He seems to enjoy running his clinic, despite its small size.

Most everyone who lives in Briar Valley is a fae of different ancestry, which means their teeth and the way they develop varies.

So it takes time to decide on individual treatments suitable for each patient…

He can't examine as many as he'd like.

He's an oddball, that one. I’ve no idea why my mother decided to wed him…

Trey: Fae-specific dental care? That’d require a very specific expertise…

I’d love to meet him sometime!

Sebek: W-What in the…

What’re your eyes gleaming like that for?!

Rook: Trey-kun’s intellectual curiosity is simply aching!

Deuce: Sebek… Clover-senpai’s really into dental hygiene, that’s all.

Sebek: What? How odd.

Deuce: Hey. Don’t make fun of him.

Clover-senpai’s parents are pastry chefs, so he listens to them and takes care of his teeth.

But he's also watching out for others so they can indulge in tasty treats.

Sebek: Some hobbies are just strange, no matter how cherished they are!

Trey: Oh, yeah? But teeth are closely linked to your health overall, so it’s actually pretty crucial.

Your father is doing a very, very important job.

Sebek: Hmph! … I suppose it’s true my father's skill is widely regarded in the community.

My mother does her best to help him, but she’s… far too imprecise for such delicate work.

Yet my father never complains, and the two of them appear to be having a good time. That alone… shows his patience.

Deuce: What happened to that thunderous voice of yours? Don’t tell me you’re embarrassed

Sebek: ABSOLUTELY NOT!!!!

Hmph. Enough about me. Let’s hear more of your escapades, Rook-senpai.

Rook: Mine?

Sebek: Yes, yours. You've told us a lot of interesting things today, but what kind of upbringing did you have?

Rook: Why, I'd say I was raised in an average household, since we respected one another's differences and compassionately helped one another out when needed.

Sebek: Average…? Given the information and experiences you shared today, I find that difficult to accept.

Trey: —Hm?

Something just moved behind that pillar!

Sebek: Come again?! It must be the ghosts that escaped before!

Deuce: They must still be collecting shards. We’ll snatch ‘em right out their hands this time!

Those two run off.

Trey: … There they go.

Not to do them dirty or anything, but maybe they'll have forgotten about the whole family discussion by the time they return.

Rook: Trey-kun… Did you just change the subject for my sake?

Trey: Pretty much. I figured you wouldn’t want them probing into your private life.

You don't talk much about yourself during club time, after all.

If the worry wasn’t warranted, though, then that’s my bad.

Rook: Ahh…!

The way you refuse to tread into the hearts and minds of others, always keeping a comfortable distance… Your concern never ceases to amaze.

I’m truly blessed to call you a friend. Merci, Rose Chevalier!

Trey: Could you just stop calling me that if you're grateful...?

Deuce: Asshole!

Trey: Uh, wasn't that Deuce’s hollering just now? What went wrong?!

Rook: Let's head their way!

Fades into the next scene.

Deuce: Get your hands off me! We found these first!

Ghost C: I touched it first, so it’s mine! Blehhh!

Sebek: You cheeky little… Don’t think you’ll get away with this!

Trey: They’re fighting with a ghost over a mirror shard…

I know I sent them after one, but I didn't expect they'd actually find one! Let’s go help.

Rook: Wait a moment. By the time we arrive at the party, we'll be completely spent.

Trey: True. I know we should be concerned about the blot we've accumulated since we've been casting too much, but...

How’re we supposed to chase them away without magic?

Rook: Something’s been bothering me for a while now. Don't the ghosts always seem to flee whenever it's time to fight?

Could it be that they're far more terrified than we originally conceived?

Which, all things considered… means that we should seize this opportunity to creep from behind.

Then we'll terrorize them till they flee!
